North Grenville recognizes First Responders Day

Statement from Mayor Nancy Peckford:

May 1st, 2024 marks the commemoration of First Responders Day, established by the Ontario legislature on December 10, 2013. This significant day pays tribute to the unwavering dedication and invaluable contributions of first responders.

First Responders Day urges all Ontarians to acknowledge the frontline workers, including police officers, firefighters, military personnel, paramedics, dispatchers, nurses, doctors and emergency personnel.

On behalf of Council and the Municipality of North Grenville, I extend heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of our first responders for their unwavering dedication. Your sacrifices ensure our community’s well-being and safety.

First Responders, whether they are volunteers or have chosen a career in emergency response, commit themselves to public service while often making life-saving differences in critical situations.

Director of Emergency and Protective Services and Fire Chief John Okum highlighted the Municipality is fortunate to have such a skilled and dedicated group of volunteer firefighters who serve collectively with all other first responders.

As a municipality, we are profoundly privileged and grateful for the tireless dedication of our emergency responders in North Grenville and the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville. Their unwavering service, commitment, and sacrifice merit our utmost recognition and respect.
