Mayor for a Day 2025

Mayor-for-the-Day, Briyanna Wilberforce, a Grade 10 student from North Grenville District High School, and Deputy Mayor-for-the-Day, Anika Modi, a Grade 7 student from St. Michael Catholic High School, spent the day learning how local government works, meeting with municipal staff, and discovering how decisions are made that help our community thrive.

Eligibility
Applicants must:
- Live in North Grenville.
- Be a student in grades 7 through 12.
- Complete the Mayor for a Day application form.
- Be available to shadow Mayor Nancy Peckford on Monday, October 20th (may include school hours, parent permission required).
Incentives ($550 total)
- One winner will be selected as 2025 Mayor for a Day, participate in job shadow experience, and awarded $100 local gift certificate!
- One winner will be selected as 2025 Deputy Mayor for a Day, participate in job shadow experience, and awarded $50 local gift certificate!
- $20 local gift certificates to the first 20 applicants (excluding the Mayor and Deputy Mayor for a Day winners).
Application Deadline
- Applications are due by 4:00 p.m. EST on Monday, October 6th, 2025.
The contest will occur each year during Ontario’s Local Government Week (third week in October), to increase public and youth awareness of the important role local governments play in our communities. The students can gain valuable insights into the workings of North Grenville. Open to students in grades 7 through 12 who live in North Grenville.
