North Grenville Launches Official Plan Review: Shaping the Future Together

North Grenville, ON – The Municipality of North Grenville has initiated the process of reviewing and updating its Official Plan (OP) to better reflect today’s North Grenville and to create a stronger vision for tomorrow.  The Official Plan, a policy document that establishes the vision for how North Grenville will grow and develop as a community, is renewed every five years.

The public is invited to share their thoughts and ideas on how we can continue to improve our community. You can share your ideas virtually - via North Grenville’s online interactive website, or attend one of North Grenville’s upcoming community roundtables, and “pop-ups” at various community events. Hard copies of the survey are also available at the North Grenville Municipal Centre and the NG Public Library.

These activities will focus on three key themes: Living, Working, and Playing in North Grenville.

Mayor Nancy Peckford remarked, “We are excited to embark on this journey with our community. The insights and contributions from our residents will be invaluable in shaping a vibrant, sustainable, and prosperous future for North Grenville. Your voice matters, and together, we will build a community that reflects our shared aspirations.”

The Official Plan will focus on effectively managing population growth and economic development over the next 25 years to support the well-being of North Grenville’s population, , its environment, and economy.

The Official Plan update will explore the following:

  • Creating a plan for how to continue to foster a vibrant and growing Municipality for the next 25 years and beyond
  • Choosing optimal locations for new housing, businesses, and industry
  • Planning for services that the community will need, including crucial infrastructure, such as roads, water, sewer, fire and emergency services
  • Ensuring we have sufficient schools and daycares
  • Investing in parks and recreational amenities to support our community’s physical well-being and mental health
  • Protecting and enhancing natural areas and green space
  • Planning for jobs and economic vitality
  • Planning for climate change impacts in an environmentally sustainable manner
  • Establishing community improvement initiatives
  • Aligning Municipal policies to Provincial and regional policies

Karen Dunlop, North Grenville CAO added, “This is a pivotal moment for North Grenville. By participating in the survey and engagement sessions, residents and businesses have the opportunity to directly influence the future development of our municipality. I encourage everyone to get involved and make their voices heard.”

We encourage all residents to participate in the survey and take part in in-person engagement sessions to share their thoughts. The feedback gathered will be crucial in shaping the future of North Grenville and ensuring it meets the evolving needs of our thriving community.
