Green Gables Vines Vineyard Winery
Listing Details
Green Gables Vineyard Winery is a beautiful location just south of Kemptville along County Road 44 where you can visit to enjoy guided tastings at the bar, strolls in the garden, or just a quiet glass of wine with a friend on the patio, overlooking the fields of over 4000 grape vines.
Friendly owners Maria and Richard have successfully grown several hardy varieties and created some very special wines based on the unique “terroir” of the vineyard.
- Terroir is a French word that wineries have borrowed to reflect the distinct range of local influences that are transmitted into the character of the wines. (e.g. the soil, weather conditions and local geography).
Green Gables vineyard is situated next to a climate modifying hillside, surrounded by a mature forest, and has lots of southern exposure. The soil (rocky with sandy loam and a limestone base) is not unlike that of the Bordeaux region of France. Like the Bordeaux region, our vineyard is also on relatively flat land. However, once winter arrives, this is where any comparison to France, California, or Niagara ends!
Our winters challenge our vines and brings out the very best qualities of these varieties… and they love it.
Visit the website to find out how you can sample a full selection of the available wines ( total 8 + varieties) 1/2 oz. / 15 ml. Other options include adding simple cheese and cracker plates, or a more elaborate charcutterie, and/or a small presentation of each wine by the certified server.
